QP Balancier

A perpetual calendar built around Greubel Forsey's seventh invention — the Mechanical Computer.

QP Balancier
At the centre of the QP Balancier lies Greubel Forsey's seventh invention: the Mechanical Computer. A system of coaxially stacked coding wheels with removable, programmable fingers, it reinterprets the calendar logic of historic astronomical clocks within a wristwatch movement. The result is a perpetual calendar of unusual mechanical intelligence.
QP Balancier
The dial carries: leap year, day/night indication, day of the week, large date, month, hours, minutes, seconds, and a 72-hour power reserve. On the movement side: equation of time, months, seasons, solstices, equinoxes, and the calendar year. The volume of information is exceptional; the legibility is deliberate.

QP Balancier
Despite its mechanical complexity, the QP Balancier is set and adjusted with a single crown — in both directions, without risk of damage to the mechanism. The system was designed from the outset so that complexity in construction would never translate into difficulty in use.
