To pay homage to its third invention, the Tourbillon 24 Secondes, Greubel Forsey has taken on the challenge of housing a mechanism, combining complex and innovative techniques, within an unprecedented architectural setting. The third invention consists of a single tourbillon cage inclined at a 25˚ angle and performing a rapid rotation in 24 seconds. This utterly original mechanism guarantees the timepiece maximum efficiency and optimal performance on the wrist. A personal message from Greubel Forsey is engraved on a gold crescent-shaped plate visible through the caseback and provides further evidence of sublime craftsmanship. This exceptional and exquisitely balanced timepiece expresses a rare degree of innovation and technical mastery that is enhanced by its exceptional hand finishing. When observed through a magnifying glass, the engraved message reveals the true nature of the extreme dedication to horology embodied in its numerous technical and aesthetic details. The Tourbillon 24 Secondes uses a fast rotation speed and inclined angle to solve the problem of critical positions of the oscillator in relation to gravity. The 25˚ angle and the rapid rotation of the tourbillon cage significantly improve the chronometric performance of a system containing only one tourbillon, especially in stable positions. Consequently, we had to develop an inclined gearing profile and an ultra-light tourbillon cage to resolve the considerable mechanical constraints imposed by this system.
